Geoffrey Guile gives a clear general overview of the gospels then looks in particular at how the theme of each gospel is seen how it begins and ends. The four gospels all present the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ, but each does so with a different emphasis or theme. Thus, Matthew presents Him as the King, Mark presents Him as God’s perfect Servant, Luke presents Him as the perfect Man and John presents Him as the Eternal Son of God. This enables us to get a far greater appreciation of Him than we would from a single account.
