“I was so drunk, I didn’t know how I was standing” – Richard McClenaghan’s Testimony
Richard McClenaghan grew up in 1940s Belfast and had the privilege of a Christian home. Soon he rebelled against such an upbringing, becoming involved in smoking and other activities. Eventually, he ran to England and joined the army, drinking frequently and living an ungodly lifestyle. But God was working in Richard’s life and had not given up on him and continued to preserve him in his army career. Listen to how God ultimately brought Richard face-to-face with the reality that…
The Story of Two Crosses – William Coltman’s Testimony (36 mins)
Tim Coltman tells the amazing life story of his great grand-father William Coltman (VC, DCM & Bar, MM & Bar), the most highly decorated non-commissioned officer of World War 1 (British Army). Coltman, a believer in Christ, would not take up arms, but served as a stretcher bearer on the battle fields in France and Belgium. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for valour in the saving of lives; but his greater interest lay in “the cross of Christ” through which he knew the…
Stan Burditt’s Testimony of Salvation (44 mins)
Stan Burditt, who often visited us in Hebron Gospel Hall over many years, tells on this recording the remarkable story of his and his wife’s conversion to Christ while in the Royal Air Force, back in the 1950’s. Another young man, saved at the same time, Colin Stewart by name, later became an overseer in Hebron Gospel Hall and shepherded the assembly here for a generation. Stan’s is a most interesting and quite amazing story that powerfully illustrates the power…
Michael Browne’s Testimony of Salvation (36 mins)
Growing up in a slum in Bristol during WW2 in a drunkard’s home, Michael Browne (1930-2016) joined the British Army and became a Royal Marine Commando. A careless and self confident young man, he saw action in the jungles of Malaya in the Far East. To Michael Browne, a Friday night was the chance to watch a film, get drunk and have a fight. On one such night in Hong Kong in 1951, Michael Browne had an encounter with the living…
Ken Fillis’ Testimony of Salvation (17 mins)
Ken Fillis was a policeman in the RUC during the troubles in Northern Ireland in the 1970s and 80s. God preserved him through it all and finally saved him in the year 2,000, when in his 40’s, during a series of gospel meetings in Coleraine with Murray McCandless and Peter Orasuk. The question that God used to get his attention? “Kenneth, give me one good reason why you are not saved”! A touching story. (Message preached in Bicester, Sunday 27th April 2008)
