Sermons by Oliver Penfold

Dutiful, discreet, and devoted women (41 mins)

In this sermon, Oliver Penfold presents three women in the Bible who are excellent examples of duty, discretion, and devotion. We consider the conduct of Ruth, Abigail, and Mary and how their example should influence the conduct of all believers.

The grip of sin and the freedom of Christ (37 mins)

Oliver Penfold reads from Proverbs chapter 5 and from 1 Corinthians chapter 15. He reminds us the grip of sin that it has on sinners. Oliver warns us of the dangers of remaining in sins cruel vice, but he also proclaims Jesus Christ as the Saviour of sinners, who can free sinners from that grip of sin and give them new and eternal life.

The finished work of Christ (33 mins)

The preaching starts with the reading of Act chapter 26 verse 23. Oliver highlights that the Lord Jesus Christ is the one that “should suffer”, “should be the first that should rise from the dead” and “should shew light unto the people” – The Lord Jesus has completed the work of salvation and there is nothing left for us to do other than to trust in Him and His finished work and be saved.

What is your opinion of Jesus Christ? (31 mins)

Oliver speaks on four opinions found in the Bible, man’s opinion of God, God’s opinion of man, God’s opinion of His Son, and our opinion of the Lord Jesus Christ. He emphasises that our opinion of Jesus Christ matters, as it impacts where we spend eternity.

Exodus 8: The Power of Godliness (52 mins)

Oliver Penfold takes us through Exodus chapter 8, giving insight into the significance of these plagues, particularly with regards to the wisdom of God in judging Egypt for their false god worship. Drawing application from Jannes and Jambres, Oliver challenges the Christian as to whether they are living in the power of godliness, or just a form of godliness. Oliver also encourages the listener, reminding them of the freedom and victory that the believer has in Christ.

“One Mediator Between God And Men” (56 mins)

Oliver Penfold and Robert O’Neill share the preaching of the Gospel. Both highlight the truth that ‘the man Christ Jesus’ is the only mediator between God and men as One who is ‘fully God, and fully man’. In light of that fact of who He is and what He has accomplished, repentant sinners can be saved for eternity!
